my tablet’s been acting up, hope its not on the fritz
one of my really favorite things about homestuck is that it doesn’t recognize just romantic or sexual love; it doesn’t simplify or prioritize such feelings and relationships over other aspects and realizations of love, but rather acknowledges that feelings be complicated, and it is possible to care for someone in a whole lot of different ways, to love them in a whole lot of different ways, and it recognizes that the love friendship signifies is no more or less important inherently than, say, the love romance signifies. and at the end of the day, i feel like homestuck is one of the few narratives that allows for friendship to exist not only alongside but within romance! so often in fiction, lovers don’t really seem to be friends and would-be lovers don’t appear to particularly care for the friends in whom they’re nominally interested as friends (see: nice guys), but for me, the appeal behind so many potential and suggested homestuck pairings is that so many of the characters like each other! and they’re friends! and they genuinely care about each other as friends first and foremost! i don’t know. i don’t think this makes sense much. it’s all just a lot of words for dirk and roxy give me a lot of feelings and i just really love that they’re clearly very close friends and they love each other a lot.
